First of all, please check our article on file upload issues ("File uploading progress is stuck") and make sure you’ve followed all the recommendations provided there. If you’re certain that none of them apply to your case, please proceed to read this explanation.
We offer an online service, which means that files have to be uploaded from your local device to our conversion hosts before they can be converted.
The standard conversion workflow is described in this article. As you can see, there are two key stages: uploading and converting.
During this uploading stage, you will see the percentage increase from 0% to 100%. Depending on your file size, this step can take a long time, and this time depends completely on the upload bandwidth of your internet service provider. (Not download bandwidth, but upload one). Unfortunately, we do not have any influence on the uploading stage, as the time spent for file uploading depends on the file size and the upload bandwidth of your Internet Service Provider.
So, you may stumble upon a slow uploading stage progress if you have a big file and are trying to convert this large file from your local device.
The converting stage usually does not require a lot of time, a matter of seconds or minutes.
Real-life example:
Say, you have download and upload rates = 100 Mbit per second / 10 Mbit per second.
So you can upload files on the internet with a speed = 10 megabits/second = 1.25 MegaBytes/second = 75 MegaBytes/minute = 4.4 gigabytes/hour.
So, with this upload bandwidth in this particular case, it will take 1 hour to upload a 4,4 GB movie (DVD size) onto the conversion server.
Troubleshooting tips:
- We are located in Germany, so you can check your upload bandwidth to any German host using the Speedtest website, which will give you an estimation of your upload bandwidth.
- We recommend uploading your files to Google Drive or Dropbox and selecting them from those cloud services — this usually results in a much faster conversion.
- Follow additional recommendations from File uploading progress stuck article.
